David Freyss started painting nearly 40 years ago. Having initially studied with James Penny at Hamilton College, he later studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and was a member of the faculty at Parsons School of Design, His early work was displayed in galleries in New York and Cape Cod and a piece was selected for the permanent collection of central New York artists at the Munson Institute in Utica, New York.
Taking a hiatus of nearly 20 years, David continued a career as a television producer and director, winning an Emmy as producer of Seasame Street. Although still actively producing programs and films independently, David has returned to painting with a new zeal and commitment.
His rich colors and energetic style reflects his enthusiasm as he paints reflections of his life, his European travels and ancestry.
David is currently a founding artist-in- residence at the Artists Gallery and Studios in Virginia and recently won Best of Show in the Mayor's Council Exhibit and an award for excellence as an American Painter from the Society of National Art Patrons.
